Skip away

Well I bought a skipping rope ages ago but have never had the guts to go out in the garden and use it. I did take Abi out and we did some skipping so it has been used once.

Anyway I skip in Krav class but I'm very bad at it, get my legs wrapped in it and jump too high so one of the blokes said that when he started skipping he was told to do it without the rope. Skip in the same position and it will help me learn to jump low and get the foot co-ordination right, letting me alternating my feet without getting stuck in the rope.

So I'm going to give it a go as I need to build up my speed and get plenty of practice in and at least I can do it in the house where nobody can see me.

The benefits of skipping are:
  • Improved cardio vascular fitness
  • Increased muscular strength
  • Better endurance
  • Improved body conditioning
  • Greater Flexibility
  • Improved coordination
  • Stronger bones
  • Better timing and rhythm
  • Improved balance
  • Improved agility
